ESPZEN SS Black 's Match Report

The 2nd of two tough fixtures, and this time against the boys in white.

We were hoping for a bounce back after the big defeat against YG2K in the earlier game, and was looking forward to meeting Chelsea again, after some previous epic encounters in Season 1.

The game started brightly with ESPZEN playing the ball around the park like they have been taught and making themselves available with good movements, and it looked like the cobwebs had disappeared from the earlier game. Ethan was doing a great job at the back soaking up all the pressure and releasing the playmakers... however we were unable to take our chances, and as the game passed by Ethan found himself more and more stranded at the back, with no midfield cover from the wide playmakers, who at times were watching players drift pass them.

After the Chelsea goal. we continued to create some good chances, but we were unable to find the back of the net...., and Chelsea raced to a six goal score line...

Upon reflection, team certainly played better as a "team" than the first game, we were slightly unlucky with some goals conceeded and had no luck with some our shots in front of goal... however today was Chelsea's day and they certainly deserved the 3 points.

For the Black team, an unsual day, but hopefully an afternoon of learning and increased awareness amongst all players that they must work hard and rise to the occassion... 3 points are never guaranteed. The U9 league is a great stepping stone before moving up to U10 for next season.... when the players will be playing with and against players one year old...  but is also a big big jump and all players must take advantage of the J League as this learning opportunity.

It is important to lose games from time to time to keep the team and players grounded, and to re-ignite the passion that helped make the team Champions in Season 1.

We look forward to locking horns with Chelsea again 2 more times this season...

Individual player stats below

Name Total Successful Pass Total Unsuccessful Pass Total Shots on target Total Shots off target Total Tackles Total Dribbles
Abbas 7 4 0 1 3 4
Adam 5 1 0 1 3 1
Ben 3 1 3 0 0 2
Ethan 13 1 0 0 11 3
Kai 2 3 1 1 0 3
Kyra 13 4 0 1 3 1
Archie 3 1 0 0 6 4
Grand Total 46 15 4 4 26 18

Our total team pass count dropped to 46 for this game, low energy and pressing by chelsea were key factors.

Post game reflections from Captain Kyra, highlighted "players seemed tired, Playmakers need to run back to help defense, passing was ok with some nice combinations and she awarded MoTM to Ethan for making some solid tackles to win possession and then showing some great distribution vision."

8th Feb was certainly black sunday for the ESPZEN u9 Black team, however some good learning points have emerged to hopefully make the team stronger for future games

CFCSS SG - Team Oscar 's Match Report

After sharing points with SMSA in the first match, the boys are more determined and focus to play their 2nd tough match of the day. Both team started well, creating and missing chances in the opening stages. This time round, Charlie was brilliant between the post making important saves and excellent distribution from the back which started most of the team attack. It took 13mins for CFCSS to break the deadlock from a brilliant effort down the left flank by Mohamad Rauf with a crisp left footer. The goal was certainly a confidence and morale booster for the boys who step up another gear and without looking back and showing any sign of fatigue, went on to score five more goals to finish the day on a high.

Well done boys for making a great comeback after the 1st match showing great determination, excellent teamwork and resilience!!
