ESPZEN SS Black 's Match Report

It was a warm day as we welcomed back the U9 premiership to ESPZEN J league. With new teams entering the league and it becoming even more competitive. ESPZEN knew they were in for a real good game against two strong opponents.

With ESPZEN winning the league in season 5, the expectations were high and all players wanted to start the season with a bag. With Aliberex Singapore showing their magic in Pre-season we knew they were a good outfit with a coach dedicated to playing football in the right way and looks to be a very promising year for this outfit.

The game started quickly with both teams trying to earn the right to have the ball. ESPZEN never looked settled and that was to the constant pressure from the Aliberex players, there hard work and dedication off the ball was clear to see and we knew the next 35 minutes will take a lot out of the players. The game settled and it was ESPZEN who broke away and created chances. Archie Hare showing his class in one vs one situations and Nathan Mao showing how dominant he can be in the tackle.

Tackling is still an issue for the team, as bravery is so important in the game. The team lacked confidence in the tackle and this is an area the team must look to improve if they want to achieve this season.

The goals started to flow with sweeping attacks, however the goals did not really come from passing football we know the ESPZEN U9 team can perform. The goals came from passion, desire to attack and work as a team in the final third with some quality finishing.  Dominque Meier Leading the line well with 2 superb finishes and showing his delight well celebrating with his team mates on his first game with the black team after promotion from Yellow over the Chritmas Break, a great addition to the squad.

It looked like the Aliberex team had caved in at 15 minutes however out of know where they stormed and attack and looked a very powerful outfit at times. I am positive this team is something to look out for this season as they have some magnificent players who caused all sorts of trouble and become the first team to put more than 3 goals past the U9 team.

ESPZEN started to crack, the side line got tense and we could feel the full force of the attacks on our back line. ESPZEN were in a storm and we knew it was hard to get out, but indeed they did, fresh legs from Krish Farmer, Oscar Mumford and also Justin Fun who defended very well to see off the result.

Not a convincing performance however a great start to the league and full credit from the competitors who should immense character to keep going through out the whole game.

Man of the match – Archie Hare – Foe his attacks and quality in front of goal.
