Sparks FC 's Match Report

Playing in their first game in over a month due to examinations, the boys were all itching to go and enjoy their football again. And what a way to start the day with a game against an opponent who gave us a real hiding the last time the boys played against us. However, the boys were more than prepared to face them this time round, and they made their intention known right from the start. Despite constantly facing an onslaught from our opponent, our boys remained defiant and withstood their barrage of attacks with a stubborn defense. Using a counter-attacking strategy, we managed to stay tight as a unit and did our best to play the game smartly. We were finally rewarded for our efforts. Following a steal of possession of ball, the boys counter attacked and scored a deflected goal through our striker Reinard. The boys were naturally elated. However, their elation was short-lived as a brilliantly-worked corner routine by our opponents resulted in a goal by them. The boys were down, but not out. They continued to defend defiantly and earn a well-deserved point at the end of the game.

ESPZEN SS Black 's Match Report

A game that demonstrated what an ESPZEN team is all about. Flowing intellgient attacking football. Patience coupled with a ruthless understanding of how to create goalscoring opportunities was evident throughout the game. As a team we had a developed understanding of  how to play together and created chance after chance. Only disappointment was that we didn't convert these chances, and we need to learn individually and collectively how to be more ruthless when opportunities present themselves, this however will most certainly come.

One area we do need to develop is our counter defending; when we lose the ball what is the collective method we choose to defend. Upon losing the ball, we didn't recover our organisation quickly enough and were duly punished, albeit slightly unlucky to concede a deflected goal.

Our goal came from some intelligent play from a corner, with Adrien provding a well timed run to combine with Aadit who finished Luis Suarez-esque passed the goal keeper.

Captain for the day Oliver who was elegant in his play throughout, gliding passed opponents chose Aadit as his Man of the Match citing his movement and ability to create chances as the main reasons.

Overall a very pleasing performance.
