White Sands 's Match Report
In the opening minutes of the game, lightning was visible and just as officials blew the whistle to stop the game, YG2K scored through a lapse of concentration by our players. We then headed to the shelter to wait it out and once play resumed, we had difficulty to contest duels with the physically tough YG2K players.
On one occasion, we conceded a freekick at the edge of the box. The shot was brilliantly palmed by the goalkeeper, Nifail, and he tried very hard to recover the loose ball. Unfortunately, his team mates were rooted and did not react, allowing the YG2K players to take a shot off the rebound which was also saved by Nifail. Still his defence did not react and the ball was slammed home on the third shot.
White Sands took a little bit more time but once we settled down and managed to string passes, our confidence rose and we opened up the game. Several chances were created but lacked the finish until eventually, Joaquin imposed himself on the game and played strongly. Taras sent a through ball to Yazid, who sent the ball into the roof of the net. Despite having control of the game in the last 10 minute period of the game, YG2K held on to take home 3 points.
YG2k 's Match Report
The Haze’s situation has improved and the boys were glad that they can enjoy football again after a few postponement.
There was only one match today against White Sands Primary School Team.
This is the first time both team met this seeson.
Credit to Coach Rizal and his colleagues, White Sands team’s improvement was
very evident and remarkable for all to see over the past few months.
They played together as a team with skill and speed.
They played a very good passing game and attacking football.
Knowing White Sand’s strength, Coach Fidelis wanted the boys to press hard to try to disrupt White Sands’s passing flow. The boys followed the instructions and started the game pressing up high.It was such pressing that created the first goal.
With Abraham charging at the last defender when he received the pass from a goal kick, he hesitated and cleared the ball for a throw in. Credit to Aqil, he spotted Abraham doing a off the ball run and took a quick throw-in.
The ball bounced over the defenders and Abraham took the ball well and charged into the danger zone. The leading scorer of the league showed his calmness and clinical finishing by slotting the ball pass the keeper. 1-0 ! The goal was greeted by the applause from the YG2K supporters and also, a loud sound of Thunder. For the safety of the
boys, the game was suspended to ensure that the lightning alert passed.
Credit to Espzen Football Academy for their great organisation and the right decision to always put the boys’ safety in mind.
The game resumed 15 min later and YG2K continued to played very high pressing game. But the White Sands boys adapted to the pressing better and they settled into their passing rhythm. They had a few good chances but Aqil and Liyaka were doing a great job.Tim, Arjun and Jonan were also disciplined and ensure that the defensive shape hold their attack
There was some half chances but none that trouble the keeper. The second goal came via a deadfall situation.
YG2K got a freekick near the penalty area. With a touch by the teammate, Jonan tried to place the ball to the top right corner pass the wall of defenders. The ball elevated pass the wall but the keeper made a very good save and parried the ball out. Abraham was the first to react. He controlled the ball well, and before the defenders react, he placed
the ball to the top left corner beyond the keeper’s reach and it was 2-0.
Both team were equally matched and credit to White Sands,
they were determined to fight back. YG2K boys , Ryan , Edison and
Hashard worked hard to hold onto the lead but they could not stop a
wonderful strike by their striker to make it 1-2.
There were a few nervy moments for the team thereafter but their discipline and hard
work allowed them to hold onto the lead and get a win for the only game
of the match day.
