F17 Black 's Match Report

Second match of the day pitted us against the very well-marshalled and resolute Singapore Comets, an energetic team playing their maiden Super League season.

To be honest, our opponents had a much brighter start in this tie, and we found ourselves two goals down inside the opening 10 minutes. With a comfortable lead, the Comets began expressing and asserting themselves, looking to close-out the game early.

Through sheer will and determination, we clawed our way back into the game when Max and Tyler combined smartly to pull a goal back right-smack on the halfway mark. Game on.

The boys took to the field after the water-break fired up to turn the tie around. But alas, we got caught out at the back and conceded yet another careless goal to find ourselves right back where we started… 2 goals adrift. But our skipper Sky rallied the troops and got us going again with some inspired interceptions and incisive passing to get the attacking unit going again.

With time running out, Raoul swooped on a misplaced pass and finished clinically to drag us to within one goal for the second time in the game. And then… Tyler caught the ‘keeper out at a corner, the awkward flight of the ball wrong-footing everyone and squirming into the net.

Buoyed by the shift in momentum, the boys threw everything forward in search of the winner. But the Comets held on, and both teams shared the spoils in a 6-goal thriller. Great stuff on a Sunday afternoon if you’re a football fan.

Comets 's Match Report

In our 2nd match of the day, we were put to the test by a tenacious F17 side.

With stark contrast from our 1st game, Comets started the game brightly and found the rhythm as the minutes passed. Buoyed by the bright opening exchange, Taisei found space in the left channel to float an inch-perfect ball for Darius to head home Comets’ first goal of the season in the 6th minute.

Darius added a quick 2nd goal with a precise right-footed finish, this time with Eli finding the killer pass on the 8th minute mark. Comets were in fine-control of the game, though F17 persisted and began to create goal-scoring opportunities and were duly rewarded on the 18th minute.

With the game nicely poised at 2-1, both teams were trying to find the all-important goal. This was when Brandon chose to let fly from distance, with a slight deflection off Darius to make it 3-1 for the Comets. Darius’s hat-trick was not enough to see out the game, as F17 came pegging back with 2 late goals.

As both team tried to find the decisive winner in the last 6 minutes but to no avail as the referee blew to signal for the final whistle. 6 goals where shared between both teams fascinating game of football!
