ESPZEN Yellow 's Match Report

First game of the season for our u14 yellow team after being promoted from the Division 1 last season.

Two important players for the team Ryan and Ethan have been called up to the Black team, and new team members have been added to the squad including Ryan L and Shuki both of whom were unavailable for selection. As such we had 11 familar faces from last season for this inaugural game (but missing Kaelen), and we are looking to build on some solid performances from last season and improve our overall game play and hopefully pick up some league points on the way.

Both teams started the game well, jockeying for possession, but ESPZEN raced to a three nil lead thanks to 2 thunder shots from Jacob and one - two combination with Jacob and Kyra.

Whilst the team had a nice margin at half time, we wanted to improve on our ability to keep the ball on the ground and move around the pitch even more (like we had worked on in training) and whilst we did improve on that in the Second Half we still need to build on this. After the whistle, Sporting pulled a goal back and it was 3-1 and game on, Sporting created more chances but Josh pulled off some amazing saves, and Max at the back was particularly strong, and probably his best performance in the black and yellow shirt. Upfront Arjun was working very hard causing the Sporting defense many problems with his tireless running and determination. Jacob added 2 more goals to his tally the final goal was intelligent play by Charlie to pull the ball back to Jacob for a tap in....

Solid team performance against a lively Sporting team.... and a sound start to the season.... Energy, work rate and determination underpins this team and we will have an exciting season ahead. Really important as alwasys all players join our training on Sat morning to work on our team play to ensure we can put our best effort forward every match.

Thanks to Sporting for a game played in good spirits.
