Barker Boys 's Match Report
Unlike the previous weekend, this was a mid afternoon kick-off under a sweltering sun.
The plan was the same as last week, focussing on team work and learning to play together.
Once again, the Boys got off to a quick start. From the first attack, Felix put in a quick ball through the wing and Aiman finished off the move.
The early goal gave the team confidence and they started to put together some good moves, building up through the midfield and spreading play down the wings. However a combination of through balls and late tackles by the opposing team held the score at 1-0 until midway through the first half when Damien scored another goal to go 2-0 up at the water-break.
Several substitutions were made to the front and midfiled, mainly to give the players a break from the heat, and also to keep them fresh for the next game to come.
Once again, right after the waterbreak restart, Damien took advantage of a slow start and quickly grabbed a third goal for the team. This was followed by another one from Ryan, a straight forward tap-in following good work down the right wing.
Damien wrapped up the result scoring his third, and the Boys fifth goal just minutes before the final whistle.
Overall, another good result for the entire team with all the players getting involved at some stage of the game. This was one of the more challenging matches which the team faced and it was good to see the players react to this. Apart from a couple of fairly dangerous situations where the opposing teams tried to break-away and counterattack, the defense held together quite well and earned another clean sheet.
The Man-of-the-Match award goes to Damien Quek, both for his contributions in scoring goals, but also in spreading play and getting the wingers and midfielders involved in opening up the opponent's defence.
ESPZEN SS Saturday 's Match Report
I welled played game from both team from start to end.
Both teams started strong but Barker Boys got the 1st goal and added the 2nd this us coming all out but we could not break pass with lot of chances but the defense stand strong and before we know it 3.
We keep pushing but 2 back to back mistake gave Barker Boys 2 more goals to make it 5 but we never stop playing as we know we can do better than that, but with a very good strong Barker Boys side we can’t get to make mistakes as we did..
Sota was the captain of the day and is MOM goes to Justin Fu for working hard in the defense and keeping the team strong till the end
